Bio: Joel Carriere (Alexisonfire, Bedouin Soundclash, City and Colour)

I was asked to submit a bio for a panel and this is really strange because, well I am me, and I often wonder if there are people interested in what we do outside of this bubble, to the point that I should have a bio on hand. I guess some I was wrong and I sit here without a bio. Which leaves me to be in a position of me talking about me and this is really awkward. I wish I could have my mom write it for me, I am sure it would be great, it’s my mom!

Hello, my name is Joel Carriere and I own and operate Dine Alone Records, Bedlam Music Mgt and SCENE Music Festival. I have a great motley crew that works with me on shortening our life span day by day, just so we all can work with what we all love the most, music.

I don’t have anything intelligent to say that could be quoted later in life by a pretentious music lover nor do I have some thing obscure to verbally offload in conversation to prove my musical taste is superior. What I can offer in conversation is basically anything about the bands I work with, my experiences from the mixed tape till now and passionate details of my self-professed rad record collection.

If you may be familiar with the bands I work with and you may notice that there is a common bond that exists. Musicians found on the roster of Bedlam Music Mgt. or Dine Alone Records have one thing in common and that is they are simply really good people, writing really great music and performing their music better than a lot of bands.

My goal is not to change the world, my goal is that if once in a while we can take a little piece or a moment in time and call it ours that would be an amazing accomplishment.

Really nothing has changed since being young and handing out some gnarly mix tapes that could exercise the unfit ear or define who we were at that point in time or make a scene where we belonged. Basically, Dine Alone, Bedlam Mgt, the staff and bands included are just an extension of that mentality, just now we have bigger budgets and more risk.
